The Action Project brings people from across Scotland together to consider what we need to do to move faster towards a country that is more prosperous, sustainable, inclusive and fair.

The key themes of some of the conversations were captured in illustrated notes. We were not able to capture every conversation in this way but we hope the illustrations below give a taster of the wide ranging areas covered in the research.

Below are some more detailed written summaries or click here to return to the The Action Project’s approach.

U3A Scotland Conversations

We worked with U3A groups across Scotland to increase the research reach to voices not usually heard in policy conversations.

This helped ensure that we were hearing the voices of a wide demographic sample. These conversations covered a wide range of subjects, read more here.

Roots Community Conversations

In partnership with trusted local organisations, we bought together people with different connections to communities, including those who might not normally take part in policy research and consultation.

Through discussing the issues important to them they identified individual and collective actions for themselves and others. Read about these conversations here.

Business

Business has an essential role in moving Scotland further towards a country that is sustainable, inclusive, prosperous and fair.

We bought together a cross sector group of businesses leading change and innovating to discuss what Scotland might need to do if we want to encourage more businesses like them. Read about this conversation here.

Places

Scotland’s places impact on every aspect of our lives but not all of them are obvious.

Professor Duncan Maclennan led conversations on the actions needed for building a positive future for creating, changing and maintaining places in Scotland. Read about these conversations here.

Finding Joy

The Action Project brings people from across Scotland together to consider what we need to do to move faster towards a country that is more prosperous, sustainable, inclusive and fair.

This includes talking about the things that some may consider non-essential but are fundamental to our quality of life. We bought together diverse group of people working to bring more joy to people’s lives. Read about this conversation here.

The Economy

Conversations in communities showed ambition for an economy that works for all, that prioritises equality and uses our assets better.

We worked with the Fraser of Allander Institute to host conversations chaired independently by specialist researcher, Mark Diffley. These conversations were detailed and wide-ranging. The illustration shows a brief summary and we will be reporting more on these soon.
